Plant to Protection

You have the plant. What matters is what you can prove.

True Cut turns your cultivar into a defined, provable genetic identity using forensic-level genetic profiling. That identity becomes the foundation for how your genetics are shared, licensed, and protected.

Whether you are keeping genetics private or building a licensing program, the path you choose determines how your cultivars are controlled, used, and enforced in the real world.

The Two Paths

Each path offers different levels of visibility, control, and enforcement.

There are two primary ways to use the True Cut Forensic Identity Dossier, depending on your goals.

Dossier Only
A private, contract-based model. Your genetic data remains confidential and is used to define identity within agreements such as licensing or material transfer.

Dossier + Provisional Patent Application (PPA)
A public-facing strategy that establishes a priority date for a specific genetic invention. This introduces a formal intellectual property pathway while still using the dossier as the technical foundation.

What Each Actually Does

What This Means for You

  • The difference between these paths is not just legal. It is operational.

  • With a dossier, your cultivar becomes a defined genetic asset.
    That allows you to:

  • License genetics with clarity and consistency

  • Verify that what is being grown matches what was agreed upon

  • Audit and enforce agreements using genetic proof

  • Adding a patent pathway expands how broadly that identity can be asserted, but comes with tradeoffs in disclosure and process.

  • There is no single “right” path. The right choice depends on how you want to control, share, and scale your genetics.
